The Special Trend for Yarn and Stitch of Knitwear

Recent events drive us to reflect on how we should live in the future. This is also a key direction this season. For scientists, 2050 is the base year for predicting what will happen to the environment, the atmosphere and humans. During exploring new stitches, we try to imagine how future knits meet our needs. Key elements of this trend include water-proof coating, technical material layer, soft sheen and 3D weaving. Fabrics are plain or strongly stretchable. Technical and functional yarns are employed. Clothes are loose. (This report, 2050, is one of yarn trends for A/W 21/22 SPINEXPO.)

Colors of 2050 draw on the cold blues found in the early generations of computer graphics, which are anchored by warm greys. Pure white and light orchid help to popularize the geometric shapes and 3D stitches that are embraced in this trend. Novel points include transparency, glowing and iridescent elements.

Science and the fashion industry continue to co-invent concepts for wearable technology. Designers promote stitch development, hoping in the future filament works as not only decoration but also providing real technical protection.

Conventional checks and check fabrics deliver a futuristic feel with the matte surface and high performance stretch yarn. Current chaos is testing the stability of our emotions. We turn to symmetric and even patterns or textiles for comfort.
